MY APRIL CHALLANGE

Sometimes you just have to make time to scrapbook, so I will help you with some motivation. Complete as many pages as you can between now and April 30, then post your total here on my blog . I will have a prize for the top two results.

WIN A CRICUT JUKEBOX, DESIGN STUDIO or OTHER PRIZES!

Last month, a wonderful lady dropped off some donations that I can use for prizes -- including a Cricut Jukebox and a Cricut Design Studio software program.
I have decided to raffle off the Cricut items and some other nice prizes that I have. I will use the money to purchase more prizes and maybe snacks and other stuff for my future crops. And depending on how much I raise, I may donate some of the money.
The raffle tickets will cost $1 (yes, you can enter more than once) and I will have them available at the April and May crops. Feel free to spread the word to other crafters that you know, they can email me to buy a ticket.
I will pick the winner on June 1st, 2010.

HY-VEE CROP IS APRIL 17

This month's crop at the Papillion Hy-Vee is set for April 17 from 10 a.m. to midnight.

The Hy-Vee crops for the last two months were well attended and we had some new faces. To make sure everyone has a good time and feels comfortable, I am limiting it to 16 croppers at any one time. So, please email me soon if you want to join us, and let me know how many people are in your group and approximately what time you are planning to be there and how long you can stay. Remember, it is FREE to crop with us. Feel free to bring a snack or dessert to share.

APRIL CLASSES

Last month, I offered my first Cricut Design Studio and Gypsy class. I've been wanting to offer this class for awhile, but I had to figure out some logistics first. I had three students and it was a lot of fun. I hope they learned what they needed to. I am offering it again April 24, but right now I am only teaching it at Precious Treasures in Fremont.

If you are only interested in learning Design Studio, which I currently prefer, we can arrange a class session at my house located in south-central Omaha. I also can teach the vinyl class at my home. Just send me an email.
Because of the Easter holiday, a trip out of town, and the loss of a teaching location, my class schedule is light this month. But I plan to take that time to get caught up on my own scrapbooking and plan some new class projects. I also have lots of spring cleaning to get done. Anyone wanna help?

BALANCING ACT

Happy Spring, fellow scrapbookers and crafters! I hope you are all eagerly awaiting Spring and all its wonders as much as I am. I am so torn this time of year because I want to be outside enjoying the warmth, watching the kids play and cleaning up the backyard and garage. But, at the same time, I long to be sitting at my craft table scrapbooking and crafting new spring decor for my house. Plus, I have all that other stuff to do: laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.

How do you balance your regular life with your crafty life?

RAFFLE TICKETS FOR SALE!

If you know me well, you know that I am very passionate about my kids' school, Holy Ghost Catholic School in Omaha. It is a small school, we only have about 120 elementary school kids. But we love it there.
Being a small private school, we have to do a lot of fundraising. One of the biggest ways we fundraise is through our church's annual festival. During the festival in June, we will raffle off a Harley motorcycle and $5,000 cash.
The tickets for the Harley raffle are $20 each or 3 for $50. And if they sell enough tickets, they will give away two motorcycles. For more info on this, goto http://holyghostharleyraffle.com/.
We also sell $1 raffle tickets for the $5,000 cash drawing. The school kids are all selling the tickets for a chance to win an Ipod Touch and other prizes.
If you are interested in purchasing a ticket for either raffle, please email me. I will gladly mail them anywhere in the world!

IN FREMONT THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY

I will be at Precious Treasures in Fremont two days in a row this week, and I would love to see some of my old favorites friends and meet some new ones, too.
On Friday at 9 p.m., Amy is having her store's long-overdue grand opening followed by an open house. I will be there doing some Cricut demos and prepping for my Saturday classes.
Speaking of Saturday, I will be in Fremont again teaching a Beginner Cricut class at 10 a.m., then a Cartridge Club at noon. Then, at 2 p.m. is my very first Design Studio and Gypsy class. This class is definitely a work in progress, but I am looking forward to a new challenge in teaching Cricut classes.
The Cartridge Club is like a guided tour of cartridges that I think you will enjoy exploring. You may or may not already own them, but sometimes we buy cartridges and we don't know why. Then, we second guess our purchase and put the cart aside because we consider taking it back to the store but never do. Or, we see a cart in a store, think it is cute but aren't sure what we would use it for -- so we pass on it but always wonder if we should have bought it anyway.
This month's Cartridge Club feature is the two Paper Doll carts. If you've ever seen these carts in the store, you've probably looked at the back and thought it was only a bunch of paper dolls. Well, these carts have so much more to offer. I use them almost everytime I crop. Please come and let me show what you've been missing.

FULL CROP & PRIZES!

This past Saturday was my monthly crop at the Papillion Hy-Vee. We had a full crew this time -- there were 14 croppers in the room at the same time during one point in the afternoon. That was the most people I'd ever had there at one time, and is probably the most that the room can hold comfortably so that everyone has 4 to 6 feet of space.
I want to thank all the ladies who came throughout the day. We even had a few newcomers. The word is still spreading and I am going to start looking into doing crops twice a month.
My croppers may not realize this -- I host this crop for Hy-Vee but I don't get paid for it. And I buy the prizes with my own money. I love helping people get their scrapbooks done, so I am happy to do it.
But that brings me to my next note...
While I was cropping Saturday, a former student of mine -- a wonderful lady named Roberta -- came in and dropped off some amazing items to use as prizes during the crops. You won't believe it, but she donated a Cricut Jukebox and a Design Studio software as well as some paper and some tags. Both items retail at Cricut.com for $65. That was so generous of you, Roberta.
After some thought and discussion with friends, I think I am going to raffle off the big prizes over the next few months so I can use the proceeds to buy smaller prizes for many crops to come. So, my plan is to sell $2 raffle tickets from now until April 30 and then announce the winners at my May crop. There will be two winners -- the first winner can pick either item and the other gets the leftovers. I will use the proceeds to buy prizes for future crops.
Please email me at iteachscrap@cox.net if you want to buy a raffle ticket. I also will have them available at the next Hy-Vee crop in April. The date is still TBD.

SPRING LAYOUT

Happy Spring, everyone. OK, so I am a few days early. Who cares?
Here is one of my new layouts. Everything on here comes from Everyday Paper Dolls. Isn't it adorable!
I will teaching this layout at several places this month for my Cricut Cartridge Club. See my schedule to the right.

EASTER PAGE

I recently bought the Easter 2010 Cricut cartridge and I think it is so cute.
I used the cart to create this page for a class I taught last weekend. It was very easy to design and recreate. Now I am determined to take pictures that will look good in the page!
