Greetings, Fellow Scrappers!

February is here again, and it appears that we will have a snowy start to the month! Please stay safe and warm.

The next crop at the Papillion Hy-Vee grocery store is Saturday, Feb. 12. As usual, it starts at 10 a.m. and goes until we drop or midnight, whichever comes first. And yes, it is still FREE!

We had a nearly full crowd last month, so please email me ASAP to reserve your spot. But I am going to ask that if you RSVP, and something comes up at the last minute, please try hard to let me know you can’t make it. My cell phone number is (402) 250-7633 and you can even text me. I realize that life gets in the way of our favorite activities, but I hate to turn away people because I think we are going to have a full crop, only to have three or four people not show up.

We will start having prizes again, so feel free to bring along any unused scrappy stuff that you won’t use to offer up for next month’s prize drawing. I also will accept $1 donations that I will use toward buying some really cool prizes down the road.

The next Hy-Vee crop is scheduled for March 12.

Last week, I was trying to design Valentine’s Day cards for my kids to take to school. I was stumped. I decided that I would just save myself some aggravation and buy some at the dollar store instead. But when I got there, a huge wave of guilt passed over me. If I have this amazing talent, and the supplies to do it, why would I spend my hard-earned money to buy something that kids probably won’t look at anyway? So, I went back to the drawing board and designed some very cool Valentine cards with my Cricut. Yes, it will take me more time and effort, but my kids and their friends will at least remember them. How do you feel about this dilemma?

Here’s a challenge: Consider skipping the store and making your own Valentine’s Day cards. They don’t have to be fancy or even made by a crafty machine. Use simple hearts or have the kids make them. Then, email me a photo of your handiwork. If I have more than 3 entries, I will pick a winner to receive scrappy goodie bag worth $10. Contest will close at midnight Feb. 28.

Email photos to me at iteachscrap@cox.net.
